SN9164 : Garreg Ddu Reservoir

taken 2 years ago, 3 km from Elan Village, Powys, Wales

Garreg Ddu Reservoir
Garreg Ddu Reservoir
Taken from the Garreg Ddu Viaduct and showing the Foel Valve Tower.
The tower is where drinking water that travels to Birmingham enters a 73 mile pipeline and travels only by gravity.
The drop in the water level due to the drought of 2022 can be seen by the water marks on the side of the tower.
See Link for a picture showing the more usual water level.
