NZ0236 : The Church of St Michael & All Angels, Frosterley The font in this church reminds us that Frosterley quarries were the source of much of the marble that graces cathedrals around the world; quarries that are largely defunct these days. Many more modest buildings in Durham will be found containing the mineral too; fire surrounds in my lifetime were still being made from that local stone.
