Which C20th conflict is this a relic of?

A commonly asked question regarding pillboxes in the Republic of Ireland. Most were built during the *Second World War in anticipation of a possible invasion by British forces from the North, or in this case a landing in the South around Cork by the Germans. Despite Ireland remaining neutral, the Nazis were no respecter of the status, who planned to invade Ireland ('Unternehmen Grun' or 'Operation Green'), using the country as a springboard in order to invade Britain.
This particular pillbox has since been cleared of vegetation and (noting the bend in the road at this point) has also been painted white.
