NU2612 : 'One legged' Oystercatchers at Seaton Point

taken 1 year ago, near to Boulmer, Northumberland, England

'One legged' Oystercatchers at Seaton Point
'One legged' Oystercatchers at Seaton Point
As we approached these Oystercatchers they moved away, some 'walking' as usual but some 'hopping' with their heads bobbing up and down as they hopped. Were these a new sub species? On closer approach they took off using two legs for takeoff.
They apparently use one leg to keep the other leg warm!
