St Woolos Cemetery, Newport

This cemetery was established in 1854; the land being purchased from Lord Tredegar by Newport Burial Committee. It was the first public cemetery in Britain.
Initially, Anglican and Nonconformist chapels were established and a little later one for Roman Catholics. All three chapels are Grade II listed.
A separate Jewish cemetery, adjacent to the main cemetery was established later.
