Stevenson Square
You used to be able to catch a bus from Stevenson Square
SJ8498 : Stevenson Square. In 2020 temporary traffic-free zones in the Northern Quarter were introduced and from July 3, 2020 the square became a pedestrian and cycle-only zone allowing pedestrians to socially distance instead of gathering in groups at traffic lights. Buses that usually passed through Stevenson Square were diverted along Lever Street to Great Ancoats Street and into Oldham Street.
With the bus stops closed and the square pedestrianised, the bars spilled out on to the pavements in an effort to carry on trading whilst keeping to the restrictions imposed by the coronavirus pandemic lockdown.

The al fresco dining experience proved popular even after covid restrictions were lifted and many people campaigned for the square to be permanently pedestrianised. However it seems buses will be returning in 2023.
Stevenson Square Stevenson Square is a public square (and former bus station) either side of Lever Street.
