A short length of rail and a stop post remain
This length of rail and the stop post are physical reminders to locals and visitors alike that Southwold once had a railway and a branch line and siding here, at the harbour. Although it was a narrow gauge railway it ran a service between Halesworth and Southwold for fifty years. What remains is a history, valued by locals; probably more photographed and written about than almost any other narrow gauge railway in England.
