The Chequer Tree is also known as the Wild Sorbus or Wild Service Tree (from the Latin word cervisia, "beer" or "ale").
Scientific name: Sorbus torminalis. Family: Rosaceae. The fruit is the Chequer Berry.
French name: Alisier torminal.
German and Austrian name: Elsebeere.
 Italian name: Sorbo ciaverdello.
Portuguese name: Mostajeiro, Mostajeiro-das-cólicas.
 Spanish name: Mostajo, Peral de monte.
