Juvenile Grey Seal
Juvenile Grey Seal
A juvenile Grey Seal (Halichoerus grypus) on the beach at Horsey Gap, having largely moulted the white coat it had as a pup. Access to the beach during the seal pupping season in December and much of January is controlled, but later, after the pups have been weaned and the seals are moulting, a closer approach is permitted as here, but visitors are still asked not to approach nearer than 10m. This apparent close up was taken with a telephoto lens.
