NU2506 : Old course of the River Coquet

taken 1 year ago, near to Birling, Northumberland, England

Old course of the River Coquet
Old course of the River Coquet
High tides still fill the channel the Coquet used to take before it changed course and formed a new mouth at Amble. The description on Armstrong's map of 1769 reads "Formerly the River run in the old Course but in 1764 it broke it's way as it now runs"
