Sea defences. I was contacted by a lady who used to live in this area, who wrote with the following interesting information: >>I was glad to see the photos of Y Clawdd Llanw(the sea defence) because my father was one of the young men who rebuilt it in 1937 after a tidal wave(I have photos somewhere)The tidal wave of 1927 meant that the sea came up to the cellars of the Ship Aground Hotel which was kept by a relation of my mother and my father's sister worked there. That night the cows did not want to go into the cowshed but they were made to go in and tethered as they would be at that time and I think they drowned Fortunately no person was drowned and no sea water came into the old home at Pensarn.I was raised up listening to all this history and more!!!! <<
I felt this was the best place to keep this on record. David Medcalf
