The winged soul at the top of the stone is an emblem of immortality representing the human soul. The upside down anchor is a religious symbol of Hope and the five pointed stars and six petaled flowers were hex symbols of protection against evil. The two skulls are symbols of mortality. The inscription reads:

In memory of
CHARLES HAY
who died 12th June
1813 aged 55 and
MARGT ALEXANDER
His Wife died 29th June
1838 aged 70 years
ALSO TWO CHILDREN WHO DIED YOUNG
