This present mill, situated by the banks of the River Tyne, dates from the 18th Century and was this region’s last working water mill. It produced oatmeal until 1959. The river still drives the water wheel and the machinery is in working order. Now in the care of the National Trust for Scotland it opens nowadays as a small museum.
