Samuel Johnson Hospital (5)
Samuel Johnson Hospital (5)
One of the original workhouse buildings from 1840 by George Gilbert Scott and William Moffatt, this 'rear range' that originally comprised the Master's House, male and female wings, is grade II listed (list entry 1033360).
Samuel Johnson Community Hospital

Built on the site of the Lichfield Union Workhouse of 1840, and formerly called St Michael's Hospital, this is now the Samuel Johnson Community Hospital, named after one of the city's most famous residents. It is a NHS facility and offers various services, but has no accident and emergency department. Some of the older buildings survive from the workhouse, and are nationally listed.
