The archive is located in the former Duchess Of Atholl Girls' School building in the centre of Dunkeld. It is Grade II listed, erected in 1853 in neo-Gothic style. It is generally known as the Duchess Anne after its founder Anne Home-Drummond (1814–97), wife of the 6th Duke of Atholl and Mistress of the Robes to Queen Victoria. The building is used for exhibition and other purposes, notably the popular annual Dunkeld Art Exhibition in summer.
