Southern Gatehouse, Beaumaris Castle
Begun in 1295, Beaumaris Castle on the Island of Anglesey was the last of Edward I’s ‘iron ring' of North Wales castles to be built. It was never finished however as money and supplies ran out before the fortifications reached their full height.

At high tide, ships could sail into the castle dock and unload supplies directly into the outer ward through a door in the wall.

This impressive fortress is a World Heritage inscribed site and a Grade I listed building (Cadw ref: 5574 LinkExternal link )
