The Guildhall dates from 1887. The original building, named in honour of the London guilds, cost 19,000 to build and was officially opened in 1890 as the administrative centre of the Londonderry Corporation. Razed to the ground in 1908 and destroyed by a number of bomb attacks in 1972, it was carefully restored and reopened in 1978. A flush bracket bench mark, numbered OSBM 3362, is located on the eastern side of the building C4316 : Flush Bracket, Derry/Londonderry.
