Built in Norway in 2003, it has had several names - Seaway Petrel, Acergy Petrel, and Seven Petrel
NT2677 : Seven Petrel and Seven Discovery at Leith. In 2016 it was bought by the co-founder of Microsoft and used for deep-submergence research and archaeology between 2017 and 2020, when it was laid up in Leith. In October 2022, it was purchased by the United States Navy. It hit the headlines in March 2023, when it toppled over in dry-dock, during a storm, with about 50 people on board, of whom about 23 were injured. The cause of the incident is still being investigated.
