Cwm Dyli AC Grid Switch House
Cwm Dyli AC Grid Switch House
An AC grid switch house, part of the 1906-completed Cwm Dyli hydro power plant and wider north Wales electrical supply system. The building contained switchgear serving the Glynrhonwy slate quarries, Llanberis village, the Marconi 'Carnarvon' trans-oceanic station, and Caernarfon town.

This was the world's first AC grid transmission system and Cwm Dyli hydro plant was one of the very earliest grid-connected hydro generating plants.

The building is now repurposed for modern communications and in relatively good condition.
