TF1417 : Against a blue sky

taken 10 months ago, near to Tongue End, Lincolnshire, England

Against a blue sky
Against a blue sky
This is the tree described in TF1417 : Nature reserve track and TF1417 : The triple trunk. In this shot it is clear that the seed bodies are forming along linear stems, so it cannot be a lime, in which the berries form in small groups on branching former flower stems. This is, ulitmately, the shot that led me to identify this huge tree as a specimen of Populus nigra, Black Poplar.
Trees and their trunks

There are many guides to tree identity on the web. But few concentrate upon the bark, the trunks, rather than leaves and blossom, and fruits. So this collection will do what it can to improve representation of the lower structures.
