TF2579 : Harmonium, All Saints' church, Goulceby
taken 10 months ago, near to Goulceby, Lincolnshire, England
Grade II listed
The church was built in 1908 by Alison of Louth reusing some mediaeval fragments.
The old church which was several hundred meters north, was repaired and re-roofed during the 19th century but by the 1880s it became too costly to maintain and a decision was made to rebuild it on the new site on Top Lane which was closer to the homes of the parishioners.
This process took over 20 years and was carried out using local labour and the materials from the old church.
It is built in green sandstone with limestone dressings and slate roof. It has a western bellcote with one bell, nave and chancel in one, north porch and vestry.
Several of the windows are reused material from the late fourteenth century, the octagonal font also dates from this time.
