Drumlin country (21)
The drumlin belt stretches across east Down and Strangford Lough to the Ards Peninsula. Many of the islands in the lough are drowned drumlins. Gores Island is at middle left and Salt Island at middle right. The view is from St Patrick’s statue J5246 : Statue of St Patrick near Saul (2). Killyleagh is in the background.
Drumlin country

In simple (non-technical) words, drumlins are rounded hills, usually of stones and clays deposited by glaciers during the ice age. They form the “basket of eggs” landscape found in parts of Cos Down and Armagh.

Gore's Island, Strangford Lough :: J5149

Gore’s Island is a drowned drumlin, on the south western side of Strangford Lough, near the Quoile Barrage. Now uninhabited, it had a few residents in the early 19th century. Connected to the rest of Co Down by a ford said to be passable at low water.
