The River Shannon is the major river on the island of Ireland, and at 224 miles in length, is the longest river in the British Isles. Here, the Abbey River by-passes the main flow of the Shannon which is on the other side of the building on the left to pass under Sarsfield Bridge from where this photograph was taken.
