The ventilation shafts serve the newer southbound bore of the tunnel which was opened in 1967. They were designed by the architect Terry Farrell and were Grade II listed in 2000.

The Ontario Tower is on the New Providence Wharf development and was completed in 2007. It has 260 residential flats and 169 hotel rooms arranged over 32 floors and is about 104 metres high.
