Met Mast under construction on Scout Moor
Met Mast under construction on Scout Moor
The Met Mast (Meteorological Communication Tower) is for monitoring wind speed and other weather conditions for the wind farm.
The one seen here under construction is one of two that were due to be erected in May 2008 next to turbines No 2 and 16 on Scout Moor.
They are 60 metres in height as they need to be as close as possible to the wind turbine hub height for the data to be credible.
The concrete base for this tower next to Turbine No 16 can be seen on the left.
