SZ4896 : Pushing the shingle back to the sea

taken 16 years ago, near to Gurnard, Isle of Wight, England

Pushing the shingle back to the sea
Pushing the shingle back to the sea
Along Queens Road the shingle beach comes right up to the road and the sea gradually moves the stones up until they spill onto the pavement. So periodically an excavator and dumper truck are used, working systematically along the beach, to move the pebbles down into the sea again.
