Belfast Harbour Pilot Boat 'PB2'
Belfast Harbour Pilot Boat 'PB2'
The Belfast harbour pilots use at least three boats. Usually two of these are kept on duty while a third (on a rotation every few months) is kept out of the water. This boat is called 'PB2' and is seen here in the Victoria Channel passing the huge wood chips carrier 'Mimosa Dream' at the Stormont Wharf (see J3576 : Alexandra Graving Dock, Belfast). See LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link ) for more information on the pilotage service in Belfast. See also J3475 : Belfast Harbour Pilot Boat 'PB3', J3475 : Belfast Harbour Pilot Boat 'PB4' and J3675 : Belfast Harbour Pilot Boat 'PB4' [2].
Stormont Wharf, Belfast

Wharf at the Victoria Channel, Belfast docks. The wharf was constructed 1956-62 by Charles Brand & Son, to provide a total lineal quayage of 580 metres; this was further extended by an additional 250 metres which was completed in 2009. Stormont Wharf is now one of the longest deep water quays in Ireland.
