Dinton church memorial 1628
Dinton church memorial 1628
This brass in Dinton church is part of an elaborate memorial erected on the north wall near the chancel in 1628 to Simon Mayne of Dinton Hall and his wife Colubery, daughter of Richard Lovelace of Hurley, Berkshire. They were the parents of Simon Mayne, the regicide who died in the Tower of London in 1661 and was also buried here, but understandably has no memorial in the church apart from mention of his name on this brass SP7611 : Dinton Hall and its history.
The story of Simon Mayne, the regicide, is at: LinkExternal link , and see Gallery at: Link
