The clapper bridge at Postbridge
The clapper bridge at Postbridge
Detail of the clapper bridge at Postbridge showing the large granite piers and slabs which were used to construct the bridge in the 13th or 14th century. Three central piers support the four huge slabs of granite spanning the East Dart river. The largest slabs are over 4m long and about 2m wide. The clapper bridge was used by pedestrians and pack horses.
