Hamilton Graving Dock, Belfast
Hamilton Graving Dock, Belfast
Part of the disused Hamilton Graving Dock in Belfast. The dock is due to be refurbished as part of the 'Titanic Quarter' redevelopment in Belfast. When completed it will house the SS 'Nomadic' LinkExternal link which was originally fitted out in the dock and launched in April 1911.

Building started on the 450 ft long dock in 1863, following some controversy over its location. Completed in 1867, it was the first graving dock built on the County Down side of the River Lagan, though its site had been bitterly opposed by the Belfast Shipwrights Society who would have preferred the dock to be located on the northern (Co.Antrim) side of the Lagan.
