Looking down on Whalley School from St Marys Church Tower we see the original dark brown stone of the original school building dating from 1864. The buildings in front have been added in the 20th century as and when more space was required. Consequently we have "architectural chaos". The eye catches Whalley Nab - 604 feet at first but in the centre is the longest viaduct in Lancashire 679 yards long with 49 spans. In the foreground is arable pasture land
