The original Kenilworth Station opened in 1844 and, like many others, was closed in 1965. This new halt was first proposed in 2008 , but planning and funding and other delays meant that it did not open to the public until 30th April 2018. The new station forms a part of the NUCKLE (Nuneaton, Coventry, Kenilworth, Leamington Spa) line saw its first service on this day - the 6:16 to Coventry.
