A double rainbow over St. Julian's Avenue. The second bow is just visible, but it's not really possible to see the fact that its colours are reversed. Also notice the greater brightness of the sky inside the main bow.text/html2017-12-10T11:37:33+00:00https://www.geograph.ie/profile/15182Jonathan Ormond52.370076 -2.714068SO5174 : Torch on the way

A rainbow over St. Julian's avenue. How many colours can you see in it?text/html2017-12-10T11:26:00+00:00https://www.geograph.ie/profile/15182Jonathan Ormond52.368175 -2.716240SO5174 : Yeo's Newsagents

The newsagent's shop, originally Abbotts and later Yeos, not long before it closed and was completely demolished. The new building is now occupied by Lloyds Chemists.text/html2017-12-08T12:00:31+00:00https://www.geograph.ie/profile/15182Jonathan Ormond52.370169 -2.713628SO5174 : Houses in Gravel Hill

The house on the left was used as an office while nearby Burgess Court was being built.text/html2017-12-08T11:24:57+00:00https://www.geograph.ie/profile/15182Jonathan Ormond52.370538 -2.712019SO5174 : Trees in snow

https://www.geograph.ie/photo/5620478
A stile in an old footpath, which is rarely used nowadays as it only runs around the back of the houses in St. Julian's Avenue and doesn't give access even to them. It was probably originally a continuation of the path from Gravel Hill down to the railway station, and predates the creation of the road.text/html2013-01-13T18:39:38+00:00https://www.geograph.ie/profile/15182Jonathan Ormond52.367426 -2.721075SO5174 : Castle Square House

This house was demolished by the council in late 1995. The site is now occupied by a wine merchant and flats on the upper floors.text/html2013-01-09T11:52:56+00:00https://www.geograph.ie/profile/15182Jonathan Ormond51.505411 -0.155530TQ2880 : Hyde Park Birdbath

This is a copy of a figure originally sculpted by W. R. Colton and installed here in 1896. In his book on London Statuary, Lord Edward Gleichen comments favourably on it, but apparently even at the time (1928) the stone had weathered quite badly. At some point it became known as "Little Nell". The copy dates from 1975. There seems to be some doubt as to whether it is still in Hyde Park, as according to Wikipedia it disappeared in Summer 2011 - but maybe it was just moved to the flowerbed as shown in its other picture?text/html2013-01-04T11:44:28+00:00https://www.geograph.ie/profile/15182Jonathan Ormond52.706908 -2.761442SJ4812 : Statue of Sabrina

Milton's "nymph of the purling stream", the goddess of the river Severn (Sabrina is the Latin name for the river).text/html2011-06-18T16:14:22+00:00https://www.geograph.ie/profile/15182Jonathan Ormond52.537438 -2.803621SO4593 : Owls at Church Stretton Station

These owls (there is a second one which is not fully visible here) were carved from tree-trunks when the station was renovated recently.text/html2010-07-16T11:25:47+00:00https://www.geograph.ie/profile/15182Jonathan Ormond52.372364 -2.722183SO5075 : River Corve

The market has been held on this site for many years, but until 1986 it took place on the ground floor of the Town Hall, which was demolished in that year.text/html2010-07-14T09:33:26+00:00https://www.geograph.ie/profile/15182Jonathan Ormond51.510327 -0.130977TQ2980 : Hogarth Bust

This bust of the famous artist is one of several in Leicester Square. He doesn't seem to think highly of the Incredible Hulk!text/html2009-03-24T09:06:20+00:00https://www.geograph.ie/profile/15182Jonathan Ormond51.510526 -0.189478TQ2580 : Eagle Pillar
https://www.geograph.ie/photo/1218901
The eagle pillar in Orme Square has an uncertain history; its sculptor is unknown, as is the reason for its being where it is. Indeed it may not even be an eagle at all; it has been suggested that it is a phoenix, and originally was the symbol of a fire insurance company. A nearby house has birds looking like phoenixes in its frontage, so this could be correct.
