Along the "Inchewan" walk (orange signposts) near Birnham Hill. Lots of deciduous trees make for a dark, cold look during winter.text/html2006-03-10T12:37:08+00:00https://www.geograph.ie/profile/1563Iain McDonald56.551685 -3.590865NO0241 : Ice Sculptures on the Inchewan Burn

The Inchewan Burn runs down between Birnham Hill and the Ladywell Plantation, site of a number of popular (and signposted) walks. The Burn itself runs out past Dunkeld and Birnam train station and flows into the Tay nearby. The cascading water freezes in cold weather to create some magnificent ice sculptures. Sadly the photographs never do them justice!text/html2006-02-28T13:41:06+00:00https://www.geograph.ie/profile/1563Iain McDonald53.054980 -2.298346SJ8050 : Head of the Valley Brook

Common ground in Bateswood "Country Park" near Halmer End, with many walkways, a cycle path and a bridleway. Most of the area is under recent birch reforestation with much of the area being reclaimed from old mining sites. The pond in the background appears to be another recent addition.text/html2006-02-28T13:23:23+00:00https://www.geograph.ie/profile/1563Iain McDonald53.015448 -2.290024SJ8046 : Track to Finney Green

A woodland track running off the Silverdale - Keele road. Popular with bikers (motorised and otherwise), this area of apparently reclaimed bings appears forested on the 1940's maps and is starting to revert back to a natural environment.text/html2006-02-19T16:26:38+00:00https://www.geograph.ie/profile/1563Iain McDonald55.872710 -3.249722NT2165 : The Kirk Burn and Scald Law

A six(ish)-foot high metal marker post on top of Capelaw Hill. No obvious signs of a fence there. Does anyone know its purpose?text/html2006-02-19T16:18:21+00:00https://www.geograph.ie/profile/1563Iain McDonald55.878949 -3.254718NT2165 : South from Capelaw Hill

Looking over the stone quarry towards the village of Mow Cop, taken from near the 18th Century Folly. A museum at SJ856570 is open daily May-Sept (not much use in Feb!). More information about Mow Cop can be found at http://www.mowcop.com .text/html2006-01-22T14:50:34+00:00https://www.geograph.ie/profile/1563Iain McDonald52.981351 -2.263582SJ8242 : Green Fields near The Lymes

Looking down over some very "English" green fields over the A53 towards The Lymes farm from the road up to Shutlanehead. For anyone wishing to travel along the track from Shutlanehead to The Pleck, be warned that there's not really a track and it's pretty inaccessible at the best of times.text/html2006-01-16T19:19:31+00:00https://www.geograph.ie/profile/1563Iain McDonald53.006543 -2.253304SJ8345 : Roundabout on the A525

Not very many interesting things in this square, in my opinion! I figured this view down the A525 towards Newcastle-under-Lyme and Stoke is worth showing, though.text/html2006-01-09T19:35:21+00:00https://www.geograph.ie/profile/1563Iain McDonald56.500577 -3.644612NN9835 : Grouse Butt on Glenshee Hill
https://www.geograph.ie/photo/103370
I thought this might have been some kind of cairn with its standing stones, but it turns out it was nothing more special than a grouse butt. Still, there's a lot of them in the area, so I guess they count as a geographical feature! There certainly wasn't anything else to be seen in this misty afternoon. I suppose this technically counts as a Bird Hide as well...text/html2006-01-09T19:27:26+00:00https://www.geograph.ie/profile/1563Iain McDonald56.394930 -3.425062NO1223 : River Tay Looking South

Just another pretty tree in winter on a farm track near Finney Green. There are a lot of walks in the area, but bring your wellies!
