This second photograph of the entrance to Scargill House, taken by Bill Holdsworth circa 1950, before the walled garden and cottages/lodge were built at Scargill.
It would appear that the walls for the walled garden are here under construction.

This is an early photograph taken from one of the Holdsworth family albums.
The album dated 1900 belonging to George Bertram Holdsworth, son of Clement Holdsworth who bought Scargill House in 1900.
I, David Holdsworth, was born in Scargill House, and this was my home until we moved to Ireland in 1957.
