The "Beach House" reported to be the first building on Sidmouth’s seafront, built circa 1790 in plain Georgian style with thatched “shed” (open fronted shelter) attached. The “shed” much frequented by gentry as a meeting place. Gothicised circa 1826 and named “Blossom House”. A fine example of Sidmouth Gothic architecture.text/html2011-10-18T20:52:54+00:00https://www.geograph.ie/profile/49038Adrian Channing50.682306 -3.235923SY1287 : The Ford on Mill Street, Sidmouth

The ford through the River Sid, Sidmouth. Located at the end of Mill Street you can drive through the river Sid at the old ford. Wonderful watching how different motorists cross the river, some cautious, others making a splash in life.text/html2011-10-18T20:34:07+00:00https://www.geograph.ie/profile/49038Adrian Channing50.683476 -3.235812SY1287 : Sidmouth’s “Byes Toll– House and gate”

The Manor House, possibly once owned by the abbots of Dunkeswell, was never a manor house but the Golden Lion Inn until 1851. Horatio Nelson stayed here in 1801 and met the mother of one of his captains, Honiton born George Blagdon Westcott who was killed in the battle of the Nile. Learning that Captain Westcott had not received a medal, he presented her with his own gold medal. Charles Dickens visited here in 1835.text/html2011-10-05T21:11:21+00:00https://www.geograph.ie/profile/49038Adrian Channing53.203378 -1.923160SK0567 : Packhorse bridge over the River Dove at Washgate
