Various numbered CS markers exist on pavements or kerbstones in Edinburgh. This is an example of a CS2. The nearby CS1 is under 100m to the north on Whitehouse Loan (also submitted). They apparently mark "Carriage Stances" as described, for example, at Edinphoto.org.uk http://www.edinphoto.org.uk/0_street_p/0_street_views_-_pavement_sign_cs3_waterloo_place.htmtext/html2019-01-12T23:17:13+00:00https://www.geograph.ie/profile/49706James M Scobbie55.932657 -3.200541NT2571 : CS1 kerbstone marker on Whitehouse Loan

Various numbered CS markers exist on pavements or kerbstones in Edinburgh. This is an example of a CS1 on the west side of Whitehouse Loan. There is also a CS2, under 100m to the south (also submitted). They apparently mark "Carriage Stances" as described, for example, at Edinphoto.org.uk - Horse-drawn trams also used to use this street. http://www.edinphoto.org.uk/0_street_p/0_street_views_-_pavement_sign_cs3_waterloo_place.htm
