Rose Terrace is the central part of the development that was meant to be Perth's new town in Georgian times. The block in the middle is the old Perth Academy, used as a school until 1938. Most of the dwellings are occupied by private residents.
In front is part of the North Inch, a vast parkland which dates back at least 800 years. Today it is used for recreation and laid out with football, rugby and hockey pitches through the winter and provision for cricket in summer. In the past it hosted grazing cattle and bleachers and was the site of the Battle of the Clans in 1396.text/html2011-08-22T14:17:53+00:00https://www.geograph.ie/profile/66976Brian Toner56.702105 -3.731632NN9458 : Atholl Road, Pitlochry, looking north-west

Atholl Road is Pitlochry's main street. This photograph was taken to contrast with one taken from the same spot a century before. Apart from style of clothes, transport and road markings, little has changed. The buildings have been well preserved and, a century later, even all the chimney pots have survived.text/html2011-08-21T23:38:05+00:00https://www.geograph.ie/profile/66976Brian Toner56.396029 -3.438874NO1123 : Victorian post box

Post box with the cipher VR (Victoria Regina) situated in an area which was redeveloped during the 1970s and 1980s. The post box seems to be the only remaining Victorian item in the area.text/html2011-08-20T18:11:09+00:00https://www.geograph.ie/profile/66976Brian Toner56.400216 -3.434171NO1124 : St. John's School from the upper playground

St. John's School was opened in Stormont Street in 1938 as replacement for a condemned 1860 building in the town centre. According to contemporary reports, the building was regarded as "a magnificent school." The pitched roof was added in 1992 after many years of trouble with the original flat roof. With the original roof, there were clear signs of art deco design and the present windows, dating from 1990, kept the appearance of the original 1938 windows.
The photograph shows classroom windows and the upper playground furnished with picnic tables and markings for playground games.
This building will be vacated in October 2011. It is outdated and is being replaced by a new St. John's Academy in the northern part of Perth.
