The Black Bridge (River Leven) :: Shared Description

This was originally a railway bridge: a short section of track linking the Dumbarton-to-Balloch line to the Dillichip Works crossed the River Leven here. The bridge appears on OS maps from the second edition (c.1897) onwards. It later served only as a footbridge, but it had already been closed to pedestrians for many years when it was removed at the end of November 2014; only its stone piers remained.
