Footpath from Heath Lea to Stone Stile, Barkisland :: Shared Description

This path is mostly on the line of Horse Godly Lane, which no longer exists as a lane beyond the farmhouse. When you leave the farmyard and enter the field there is a footpath to the right but this footpath keeps straight on. After the next stile the path follows the edge of a wooded valley. The lane was probably at the bottom of the valley next to the stream. After entering the next field the lane turned left, then right, to meet Saddleworth Road opposite the entrance to Wood Royd. The footpath keeps straight on to the middle of the field, where there is an invisible 'cross-paths' where you can turn right to Saddleworth Road at Stone Stile, keep straight forward to Barsey Farm or turn left to Barsey Green Lane.
