Kirkcaldy Railway Station :: Shared Description

The station was opened by the Edinburgh and Northern Railway on 20 June 1847. It was later taken over by the North British Railway, the London and North Eastern Railway and British Railways. It is currently operated by Abellio Scotrail.

Being on the East Coast Main Line as well as on the Fife Circle, the station is well served with local and intercity services, including the Caledonian Highland Sleeper and services to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Inverness, Leeds, Plymouth and Penzance.

The main station building on Platform 1 houses the ticket office, waiting room, kiosk and toilets. There is also a waiting room on Platform 2. The platforms are linked by a subway and lifts.
