Ceona Amazon at Greenock :: Shared Description

Ceona Amazon is a pipe-laying and construction vessel. Its keel was laid in August 2013 in Gdynia, Poland, and the hull was floated out of the shipyard in April 2014; the vessel was outfitted in Germany, and its pipe-laying equipment was installed in the Netherlands. It is 199.4 metres (654 feet) long and 32.2 metres (106 feet) wide, drawing 8.0 metres with a gross tonnage of over 30,000. It is equipped with a 570 tonne multi-lay pipe tower (NS3075 : Ceona Amazon detail) and two heavy duty 400 tonne offshore cranes.

The ship has been laid up at Greenock since mid-September 2016; its owners (Hammesmith based Ceona) had gone into administration in September 2015 as a result of the fall in oil prices and the ship was put up for sale. Initially berthed at the Inchgreen side of the Great Harbour, she was later moved to the adjacent Inchgreen Drydock.

The striking vessel can be seen for several miles, including from across the Clyde at Helensburgh and Cardross.
