St Peter in Eastgate, Lincoln :: Shared Description

Grade II listed.
The church was built by Sir Arthur Blomfield in 1870 on the site of an earlier church dating back to Norman times. This original church was badly damaged in 1643 during the Civil War, and was left ruinous for over a century.
In 1781 a new church was built, and this was enlarged in 1870. Designed by Blomfield and built by Otter & Binns of Lincoln costing £2500. The church was decorated by Bodley.
In 1914 the church was enlarged with a south aisle, west porch and vestry. The rood screen was also added.

There is a nave with aisles, chancel, western bellcote and porch, and vestry.
The nave has 4 bay aisles, and the chancel has stencilled painted decorations. The north aisle has been partitioned off to provide a separate room.
