One Bankmore Square (proposed), Belfast :: Shared Description
A site, bounded by the Dublin Road, Bankmore Square and Marcus Ward Street for which there is the following application (15 March 2017) for planning permission “LA04/2017/0562/F Demolition of existing cinema building and erection of a 12 storey Grade A office building comprising eleven floors of offices above a ground floor foyer, café and retail units, basement parking and other ancillary works. proposal also include the refurbishment of Bankmore Square open space and wider Public realm improvements to surrounding footpath network. 14 Dublin Road and Bankmore Square Belfast BT2 7HN”.
The site plan, available on the NI Planning portal, shows that the existing multi-storey car is excluded from the proposed scheme. I have, however, in the interest of showing the entire area, included photographs of it and the Bankmore Square open space. The portal also contains a shadow study demonstrating the effect the building would have on the surrounding area.
Description amended 14 February 2019. “Kainos, a leading provider of digital services and platforms, has announced the purchase of a site for its new Belfast headquarters.
The site at Bankmore Square, is currently home of the Movie House Cinema and has planning
permission for a replacement 250,000 square foot Grade A office building, although Kainos will be submitting a revised planning application.
CEO of Kainos, Brendan Mooney said: “Our people remain central to everything we do and we want to ensure that our staff work in the best environment possible, and Bankmore Square allows us the opportunity to create a superb, modern and innovative office for our people.
“As well as the additional capacity that the office will bring, this investment, and the location of our new HQ, signals our commitment to retaining and attracting the best staff. We remain focused on providing exceptional careers and working conditions for all at Kainos and hope to close this transaction
soon.”
Kainos, which currently employs more than 1,400 people across 12 offices in Europe, the US and Canada, is on course to achieve its ninth consecutive year of growth in revenue and staff numbers.
Kainos plans to move into Bankmore Square in Spring 2021” - official press release dated 12 February 2019.
The photographs submitted by me appear as a matter of record only. I have no involvement with the scheme and express no opinion about it. I cannot enter into correspondence.
