Fred Dibnah Heritage Centre :: Shared Description

Fred Dibnah MBE (1938 – 2004) was a well known steeplejack, TV personality and raconteur from Bolton. After his death, the new owners of his Grade II-listed house opened it, and the attached land, as “the Fred Dibnah Heritage Centre”, displaying the remains of his collection of steam engines and other artefacts that he either collected or built such as the replica pit head gear and mine shaft, the forty foot brick chimney which he built for his boiler house, and his workshops and sheds. The centre opened to the public in 2010, but is expected to close early in 2018 with the house and contents set to be sold (LinkExternal link Bolton News).
