University of the West of Scotland Ayr Campus :: Shared Description
The university was formed in 2007 with the merger of the University of Paisley and Bell College, Hamilton. Known as UWS, it has four four campuses in south west Scotland, these are located in Paisley, Hamilton, Dumfries and Ayr. There is a fifth campus located in London, England.
The establishment of the University of Paisley in 1993 resulted in a merger with Craigie College of Education in Ayr, which had been established in 1965. The Craigie College Campus in Ayr was operated by the University of Paisley before the 2007 merger that established the UWS.
The Ayr Campus is set in 20 acres of what was the parkland of Craigie House on the north bank of the River Ayr, near the town centre. The campus also houses the West of Scotland Management Centre, which is the Business School’s management training and development facility located in the Category A Listed Link

A new campus for the University in Ayr, shared with the Scottish Agricultural College, designed by international architecture practice RMJM, on a riverside site adjacent to the original campus, was completed and opened in August 2011. The campus has over 2400 students, over five UWS schools.
The grounds are well maintained, rich in wildlife and are open to the public Link .
