Regent Street flyover - reconstruction :: Shared Description

The 1960s steel and concrete bridge carries the A64(M) inner ring road over the A61 Regent Street. In May 2020, work started on a two-year project to reconstruct the bridge, starting with the southern span (westbound carriageway).

The work was not without its critics, with some green campaigners questioning investment in major road contracts after the Council declared a 'climate emergency'. The project did however include improvements to pedestrian and cycling facilities.

The project has its own website with detailed plans LinkExternal link
