Ford Park, Ulverston :: Shared Description

The park was the grounds of Ford House (which still stands), built for William G Ainslie, Chairman of the North Lonsdale Iron and Steel Company in South Ulverston and first MP for Lonsdale.

In the 1930s the estate passed to Ulverston Urban District Council, but in the War it was in military use and later as a school until 1997. The Ford Park Community Group was set up in 1998 to help restore the grounds, and bought the park outright in 2005.
