Station Street flyover, Belfast :: Shared Description
The flyover connecting the Queen’s Road/Queen’s Quay and Station Street to Bridge End was built when around 25,000 people worked in shipbuilding. With the closure of the shipyard and the redevelopment of the area as the Titanic Quarter, it’s due to be demolished and replaced by a new road layout in keeping with the expected future traffic requirements and to improve the appearance and perception of the area. This is a series of photographs, as a matter of geographical and historical record, showing the flyover while still in use.
The final version of the Masterplan for the redevelopment of the Queen’s Quay area was published on 29 August 2013 Link

It includes several references to the Station Street/Bridge End flyover. The following (in the interest of brevity) is selective “As the Masterplan has identified, a key impediment to implementing the development is the Station Street flyover. DSD has obtained planning permission for the flyover’s removal to facilitate its replacement with an “at grade” roadway. . . . The regeneration Masterplan assumes that the Station Street flyover is removed. . . . . 2014 2016 Infrastructure works to remove Station Street flyover and undertake public realm works”.
