Oak Mall ceramic tile mural :: Shared Description

The mural is a near replica of the original mural which adorned both sides of the adjacent West Stewart street underpass from the early 1970s until 2011 when that underpass was renovated. Part of the original mural can be seen here NS2776 : Tile mosaic in West Stewart Street underpass.

Public art company 6274 Public Art LinkExternal link was commissioned to create a new mural by local regeneration company Riverside Inverclyde LinkExternal link. The new mural features some modern articles, including the cruise liner Queen Elizabeth 2 and the Beacon Arts Centre (still under construction at the time of writing), in addition to the originally depicted local street scenes.
